Jira

Jira to manage projects

When we talk about Jira, we’re referring to an online software, specifically a web application developed by Atlassian that aims to provide the necessary tools for project tracking. It’s primarily oriented towards software development projects, especially for software development teams, where each individual will have their predefined user account.

This software is characterized by its ability to create multiple boards simultaneously. For example, there can be a board for analysis, a board for development, a board for testing, and a board for implementation.

Within these boards, tickets or issues are created, which are essentially tasks assigned to individuals. A detailed specification of the issue can be provided in the description, outlining everything needed to complete the task, including images, URLs, attachments, and even in HTML format.

Additionally, issues allow for setting priorities, adding labels, defining responsible parties, estimating task duration and start/end dates, and importantly, tracking the time spent on the task.

This last functionality provides the ability to obtain detailed statistics regarding project development, across different phases and per person.

Together with other plugins like Timesheet, you can determine the amount of work performed by an individual in a specific month, and track the hours used for a defined board over a specific period.

Furthermore, within a board, you can configure different status columns through which issues progress, from “To Do,” through “In Progress,” to “Done.”

It’s worth noting that custom statuses can be added in the desired order.
