PuTTY: SSH connection terminal

PuTTY is an application that allows SSH connection to a server.

SSH, also known as Secure Shell, is a protocol for accessing a server via command-line interface.

SSH is a more secure protocol compared to, for example, FTP.

PuTTY is commonly used to access Unix servers using the aforementioned protocol.

It allows for the simple and intuitive management of these servers.

One of the main uses of PuTTY, from a software development perspective, is deployment in test or production environments.

For example, if you need to deploy the latest changes to the test environment of a project developed in Laravel, you first establish a connection to the server using PuTTY, then use commands to navigate to the project location, and finally execute the corresponding Git command to pull the latest version from the test branch.

PuTTY is a very simple and lightweight application that even allows you to save connection data for frequently used servers.

It also allows for configuring the connection type such as SSH, Serial, Telnet, among others, and the server access port.

Furthermore, it allows for customizing the command-line interface, for example, with a larger font size or different colors than the default ones.

After a period of inactivity, PuTTY may lose the server connection, but it provides shortcuts to reset the session from within the application menu.
